Brewing giant Heineken has taken another key step in the development of its Seville plant, one of its four production units in Spain. With its iconic brands like Heineken and Cruzcampo, the brewery continues to innovate to meet growing demand while optimizing its logistics processes using AGV (Automated Guided Vehicles) technology from Alstef Group.

Since 2006, Alstef Group has been partnering with Heineken to equip their Seville production site with AGV systems to automate pallet flows and improve production chain efficiency. In 2020 and 2021, the site underwent a full modernization of this system, replacing both the AGV fleet and the supervision system. This gradual migration, designed to minimize impact on production, allowed Heineken to maintain high performance levels while integrating the latest technological innovations.

The fleet includes 9 CM4 that manage flows at the beginning and end of packaging lines, from supplying packaging materials (kegs, cans, bottles) to removing finished products to the storage area. Meanwhile, 6 GF 12.3 AGVs handle the transfer and storage of dry materials (labels, caps, etc.) between the receiving area, storage, and production lines, while also managing waste.

The Seville plant has recently carried on its expansion with the extension of its finished product storage area. Heineken has once again placed its trust in Alstef Group, integrating 3 new CM4 vehicles into the fleet this year. Capable of transporting four pallets simultaneously, the automated vehicles maintain a pace of 58 movements per hour, effectively handling the increased production volumes while optimizing internal flows.

This project marks a new milestone in the long-standing collaboration between Alstef Group and Heineken, a partnership that also extends to the French site in Mons-en-Baroeul, where two AGV fleets were installed in 2009. Following the successful replacement of four AGVs last summer, a new system modernization project comprising six AGVs has just been launched, with commissioning scheduled for summer 2025, highlighting the group’s confidence and satisfaction with the automated solutions provided by Alstef Group.
