Background
Strategically situated on the historic Silk Road, Almaty International Airport, managed by TAV Airports, has undergone significant expansion with an investment of USD 200 million. This development has positioned the airport as one of Central Asia’s largest hubs, doubling its capacity and enhancing its role as a key gateway between East and West.
Key Features
The new terminal, spanning over 50,000 square meters, is designed to handle seven million passengers annually, with the airport’s total capacity now reaching 14 million. This state-of-the-art facility will exclusively manage international flights, while the existing terminal will cater to domestic travel, ensuring seamless transfers and smoother travel experiences.
Alstef Group’s scope of baggage handling works included design, supply, and installation of 50 check-in desks, four reclaim carousels, an outbound baggage system with a throughput of 2250 bags per hour (bph), and an inbound system designed to handle 3900 bph.
