BAGGAGE HANDLING SYSTEMS

The completed departure system features 75 check-ins, two 650 m cross-belt sorters with a total capacity of 12,000 bags per hour, integrated Standard 3 hold-bag screening, five make-up carousels, an early bag store with automatic flight sorting, and a fully redundant electrical and automation architecture. Alstef Group’s BAGWARE software, including BAGVIEW SCADA and BAGSORT SAC, enables secure, real-time monitoring and control. The arrivals system includes five new reclaim carousels, completing a fully modernized baggage handling solution.

The new baggage handling system includes 120 check-in positions, two primary tilt-tray sorters feeding six Standard 3 EDS units, four transfer lines, and two secondary tilt-tray sorters directing bags to 12 make-up carousels and an early bag store. The arrivals system features seven reclaim line subsystems with double-fed carousels and integrated customs screening, providing a complete, efficient, and secure baggage flow.

The post hurricane recovery baggage system upgrade includes an outbound sortation system with 27 check-in locations and two in-line Standard 3 Explosive Detection Systems (EDS). It features automatic sortation to three make-up carousels, managed by Alstef Group’s proprietary BAGSORT Lite software, and an inbound system comprising three new horizontal carousels with feed lines, providing a complete, modernised solution for efficient baggage handling.

The upgrade included the installation of 56 new check-in conveyors, 12 self-service bag drops, an outbound sortation system with five Standard 3 screening machines, two new make-up carousels, and a transfer connection to the domestic terminal.
