Alstef Group implements four Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) for Toray Carbon Fiber Europe

Alstef Group is supporting Toray Carbon Fibers Europe, the global leader in carbon fiber manufacturing, in the modernization of its production site in Abidos, in the southwest of France.

This collaboration, which began in 2007 with the installation of an initial fleet of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), is now entering a new phase with the replacement of these units in the existing production facility, as well as the automation of a new workshop currently under construction.

To meet the specific transportation needs of full and empty spools carts within the production units, Alstef Group will implement a fleet of four custom-designed AGVs. These automated vehicles, equipped with specially designed platforms to handle heavy and bulky loads, will provide Toray Carbon Fibers Europe with a flexible and efficient material handling solution. The system will be managed by Alstef Group’s OPAL software suite, ensuring real-time supervision and tracking of all operations.

This new project is part of the long-standing relationship between the two companies and aims to improve site logistics while enhancing the reliability and efficiency of production processes. Scheduled for commissioning in spring 2025, the new system will enable the plant to benefit from an optimized internal logistics flow, further strengthening its global competitiveness.
